Lactation and Breastfeeding Support

As an Ottawa-based IBCLC and Registered Nurse, I provide evidence-informed lactation support to families in Ottawa and the surrounding region. Whether you're preparing to breastfeed before your baby arrives or navigating challenges in the weeks and months after, support is available at every stage -- in your home or virtually.

Prenatal Consultations

Preparing to breastfeed, or exploring your feeding options, can feel overwhelming. This personalized prenatal consultation helps you understand infant feeding and sleep, set realistic expectations, and create a plan that reflects your health history and parenting values.

Conducted via virtual or home-visit and lasts approximately 90 minutes. The cost is $210*.

Lactation Support (after baby arrives)

Feeding challenges can arise at any stage in lactation. This in-home consultation provides individualized, evidence-informed support tailored to your baby’s development and your family’s goals. Together, we’ll assess what’s happening and create a plan that works for you.

During an in-home visit, I conduct a full feeding assessment -- observing latch and feeding technique, assessing milk transfer, and reviewing your baby's growth and feeding history. You'll receive a written care plan summarizing what was discussed. Letters to your healthcare providers can also be provided as appropriate.

Home-visit lactation support is ideal for lactation challenges such as:

  • Trouble with latch

  • Nipple and breast pain

  • Mastitis, blocked ducts

  • Baby is fussy at the breast, or coming on and off

  • Breast refusal

  • Baby having trouble managing milk flow

  • Weaning off a nipple shield

  • Concerns about high or low milk supply

  • Weaning toddlers off the breast

  • Use of a breast pump

Initial appointments are conducted via home-visit, last approximately 90 minutes and cost $210*.

Follow-Up Support

Designed for families who would benefit from continued guidance after an initial visit. These sessions allow us to reassess feeding, or developmental changes and adjust your care plan as needed.

These appointments can range from a 30-minute phone call to an in-home, or virtual session lasting 60-90 minutes. From $140 for the first hour, +$70 per additional 30 minutes*.
